Utilizing the Federal and State Historic Tax Credits, the building was converted from its original use as a department store into a mixed-use structure that supports the emerging services, entertainment and events in downtown Raleigh.

Phase I of the project was a complete restoration of the building’s Fayetteville Street exterior including reproducing the historic Boylan Pearce sign and reintroducing the significant canopy at the entry. The second phase was the full renovation of the building’s core and shell introducing the new vertical circulation and building systems that will support the end uses. The final phase of the project was a fit-up of the spa, wine bar and event space which adds to the vibrancy of downtown Raleigh.
